It’s Finally Over - Obama Wins! Modern, Urban & Fun Barack Obama T-Shirts & More

I actually made these t-shirts a few weeks in advance.  Let's just say I had a sneaky suspicion when the economy tanked that Obama would be our new Commander in Chief. 

...and to be fair and balanced I created a few things for the McCain / Palin supporters.  My "don't blame me - I didn't vote for him" stickers are HOT right now! 

So...Obama supporters, congrats!  It was a fantastic campaign and Obama is a class-act.  McCain Palin supporters...there's always 2012, right?

A Super Dooper Good Cause - The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk

I am taking a bit of a break today from posting about cute stuff because I feel very strongly about the work of the Alzheimer's Association and their upcoming Memory Walk.

My grandmother passed away a few months ago.  She was nearly 100 years old.  She was one of the brightest and spunkiest women I'd ever met.  She lived on a farm and used to drive and then climb into the bucket of a skid loader to pick apples when she was over 80 years old.  She never ceased to amaze us (and scare us a bit) with her determination.

I visited her last summer when she was beginning to fade.  She didn't remember me.  In fact, there were times that she didn't remember her own children who visited her almost daily.  Frankly, I am not sure if she suffered from Alzheimer's at that point or if she was simply passing away but it was heartbreaking to watch her memories slowly slip away nonetheless. 

This year, I've decided to sponsor a friend who is going to walk in an upcoming Memory Walk.  Her father is in his late sixties and is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.  I can't even imagine what the family must be going through.  My small "taste" of what Alzheimer's must be like is nothing compared to what they live with on a daily basis. 

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk raises money for Alzheimer's support and research. It is held in hundreds of communities across the country.  Chances are, there is one near you!  Even if you don't have a local walk, you can still sponsor a friend, family member....or anyone across the country as they complete theirs!

The Association is seeking Team Captains now!  Team Captains need to sign up early so they can recruit a team and raise funds for this wonderful charity event.

Here's how you can become involved too:

• Sign up as a Team Captain.
• Visit  sponsor a participant in the Memory Walk, by using the "find a walk" feature that leads you to the "sponsor participant" feature.

I want to strongly encourage you to get involved.  Drop me a line in the comments section when you sponsor a walker or join the walk as a Team Captain.  I would love to hear more about your experience!
